Since I started this blog I have talked about my own health and fitness journey. This time I wanted to take a second to remind you that while you are planning to have a healthy holiday season, it is also important to allow yourself to have fun!
Many of us stress about putting on weight over the holidays or avoiding unhealthy options at holiday parties. It is ok to allow yourself to eat something you wouldn’t normally eat. Some people call that a cheat meal, I call it human. It is important to have some balance in your life. If you deprive yourself of everything you love then you will be more tempted by it and it will continue to have control over you. Allow yourself a treat in moderation over this holiday season. The only plan you need is one that prevents you from going off the deep end. No one wants to gain 20 pounds over the holidays. Keep balance in mind. Eat really clean all day prior to a holiday party and eat clean the day after. Make sure you drink a lot of water to help flush your system clean if you have had more to drink or richer foods to eat.
Growing up I was never a believer in New Years Resolutions. Now I think goals and plans to reach those goals are one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself. Take these next two weeks as a time to reflect on what worked for you this year and what you would like to improve on. Make a plan and then hit 2014 hard!
